Please add the ability to cut and paste into popular appications. The .bmp save feature is nice, but it doesn't work well if you want to resize the diagram. Being able to "cut and Paste" is the best solution.

Very good software! When I add a text-label, then I cannot delete it (well at least I can undo it, yes) or move it or change label's text. It could be very fine to see a new version that can handle better the text labels!
    At the moment the only way to remove a label is to edit it and delete all the text.

Icons do not scale well. I suggest vector graphics rather than bitmap. Ability to move a group of selected items would be *very* useful. Alternative for moving objects - holding down shift is counter intuitive. More line types other than standard and lightning. This program appears to be quite basic at a glance but on diving deeper into it, it is quite brilliant. Your interacive properties and tables are very clever.

I was using version 3.1.5 and had a problem with LABEL. Every time The software created some labels automatically, without I asking to. I installed 3.2.1 and the problem continues. I delete the Label's (each label has the name label) but when I save and open the file again, the labels are there again.

It's a nice software. At the first 30 minutes of using it, I thought it's was were difficult to use it, but after reading the manual in homepage, it's got easier. Some suggestions: 1-Make it easier to delete (use just del) and to move objects (just move, without SHIFT) 2-Use ALT-enter ou doubleClick in the object to edit Properties (I think it's not necessary to have to select the object before doing something with it) 3-Printing it's not working (I use WIN XP Pro and Canon BJC-1000)

I had difficulty downloading from Winsite - they force you to a broken link. Got it in the end by doing a search and found a mirror site. So far looks great, while initially playing I found the use of cut to delete rather awkward. It's more intuitive to select and press the Del button. Also to get out of the 'inserting' an icon or link mode is a bit odd, some drawing packages just use a button with a 'select arrow' to go back to a normal mode. But defenitly a fine piece of software.

by copying an object for a second time, I got a "run time error" after which the application closed. The Workgroup Palette defaults to O:\something, isn't it better to have it default to C:\Program Files\Network Notepad\Options? I'm constantly looking for the palette... (but maybe that's just me :) )

After inputing information in the links table I was hoping to see the multiple addresses from a router listed so I could print them out. Can you print the links table?

I have three wishes for future versions though. 1) Layering of objects. 2) Grouping of objects 3) When I draw some links between objects, then insert a backbone object, if the backbone crosses the links then a hole is cut wherever the backbone object path moves over. In other words the backbone object cuts holes in links. I'm looking forward to exploring the scripting side of things.

I'm using 3.2.5 version. It's very common to happen the following: when I click with the text tool, and don't write any text, the next time I open the same file, it have created a lot of Label's (written "Label" on it) 1-Tip: Just create a Label in the source code if the user type something. 2-When there is a lot of label's, I can't select all the label's in order to delete it. (I tried to select it with the left mouse button, but the label's doesn't selected.)
    I need more information on  the "Label" problem as I cannot reproduce it.

I like to keep a lot of misc notes about network nodes. 
Ideally, I'd love to be able to have an extensive "notes page" for each object where I could define data groups (Department, Owner, Login Info, etc).  That would probably be a lot of work on your part, so how about just making an option to launch an external command?  That way I could set a command like "excel.exe LibraryWorkstation2.xls" and keep all my node-specific notes in there.

Any chance of making this open source? I've got a few pet features that I'd love to add.

Would it be possible to make a function that would clean up the links in the file.  I have noticed that the file just stores the Link as NO_LINK_OBJECT if you are doing alot of links adding and removing, it will add to the size (although little) and makes it look a little messier.  I find this to be a great program, with few bugs I'm running 4.2.9 Beta

For networkmonitoring, it would be nice to have repeating execution of functions (ex. ping) and  displaying different Icons depending to the results (ex.: PC on or off)

Finaly - have you considered going open-source? I think that being the maitainer of the project would allow you to receive many benifits but it would also allow the program to mature and and improve much faster than you doing all the work - think about it.
In any case, I'd be happy to help improve the program (testing, wish lists, programming etc.) I'd love to hear your thoughts on this -

Looks good. Would be nice if the safeguard for moving objects (holding down the shift-key) could be disabled though. When creating a new diagram I need to move things a lot, and get angry at that message dialog that keeps appearing saying I need to hold down the shift key... GRR. :-)

Do you know if Network Notepad is 'portable', ie can be used from a USB key/drive without installing software on a host machine (or perhaps has to be installed on a host machine first then the directories copied to a the USB drive and then will run happily from it? It needs various VB dlls to be installed and registered on your system. It may work if another piece of software has installed these already.

1. Change the font to the font you desire.
2. Right-click the text and select "Make This The Default Font and Colours".

This is really cool, very functional and easy to use. I needed to do a LAN and WAN diagram and your software made it simple. I just finished posting a recommendation for this in my developers forum.

Nice product. It would be useful to ahve a "username" and "password" wildcard options, or perhaps a "prompt" option. Also, it would be useful to have a "new page" to drill down into more pages, or link to objects in other pages. Also, let it pull IP from DNS instead of just hosts file.

Shouldn't need shift or control to drag, just slect first and then drag. This would allow the shift key to become available for "straight" dragging. Many programs allow you to drag an object perfectly vertical or perfectly horizontal by holding down the shift while dragging.

Pressing enter from an object properties box should cloase (and save) the properties. If just enter isn't acceptable, maybe ctrl-enter.

Instead of a single object library location (normal location or shared location), how about supplimentary library locations. Keep the original libraries in their default location and have a supplimental libraries.
Also, i can't seem to get the shared library to work.

I'd like the ability to select a number of objects and then tile them vertically or horizontally while aligning them along their centers.

I noticed the program is portable but it references the registry for some settings. Would it be possible to have the program write settings to an ini file so it could be completely portable and be run off a usb device. It can run from a portable device now but you lose any customer functions since it's stored in the registry.

No. It's written in Visual Basic and even the nearest thing to this under Linux would require a lot of work.
